Iconic Route 66 Roadside Attraction
Shea’s old filling station is located at 2075 Peoria Rd on Route 66 and has the feel of an American museum. As your RV tour rolls through Springfield Illinois you’ll come across his Marathon Station. It is filled with all the historical signs, oil artifacts, and classic pumps. Despite having a floor to sealing room full of gas pumps, there is no gas sold at this highway museum – so don’t pull in on empty – but it is quite the site and well worth the stop. Despite not selling any of these wonderful iconic artifacts – it is a great opportunity to get out your camera and take home some pictures that will bring you back in time.
