Is this Airstream Ranch Art or Not Art?
If you have ever taken your RV down Interstate 4 between Plant City and Tampa then you’ve come across eight silver travel trailers tilted into the rising sun. These Airstream rigs are the artwork of Frank Bates, the designer of Airstream Ranch, which occupies a perfect spot fronting I-4′s eastbound lanes. Bates states that passers by “see it and enjoy it. It’s something to look at.” He, like us, loves the unique curves and shape of the Airstream trailers and figured that they would make for a wonderful art installation that mimics Cadillac Ranch in Armorial Texas.
Here is a video clip of Frank Bates talking about his foray into the art would – but the big debate is, “does the Airstream Ranch count as art?”
You decide for yourselves… We’d love to hear which side you take, art or not art… that is the question.
